Koh Pu - Thailand's Small Island Resort Offers Nothing But Peace and Quiet

Koh Pu - Thailand's Small Island Resort Offers Nothing But Peace and Quiet

Save for a 1/2 mile stretch in uptown Koh Jum, there are no paved roads on this small, relatively obscure tropical island settled not far from Krabi in southern Thailand, only some somewhat rough and uneven dirt roads. Nightlife is nonexistent as far as I can see - there are no bars, trendy cafes or traveler cul-de-sacs (places where tourists hangout) unlike other more beloved beach resorts. In terms of sheer corporal beauty, Koh Pu pales in comparison to the lushly tropical and gigantic islands of Koh Chang or Koh Samui and while there are some fairly decent beaches scattered round the island, there are great beaches to be found elsewhere in Thailand. Did I forget to mention, that there is no electricity on the island except in the middle of the hours of 6:00Pm-12 midnight?

Why should you agenda your vacation in Koh Pu? If you're seeing for peace and quiet, you'll find fullness of it on this small island. That is the big attraction here. Koh Pu is the ideal place to chill out, meditate, detox and to do some serious reading. Scattered nearby the island, there are whole of small resorts and cottage rentals along with the in fact delightful Tingrai Bay Resort. Hint: Bring fullness of books and reading material with you.

Thailand Hotel

To get to Koh Pu, there is express ferry assistance from Krabi twice daily - 11:00Am and at 1:30Pm. Fare is 350 baht.

There are roughly 3000 inhabitants on Koh Pu; most of them are Moslem and the original manufactures here is cultivation of rubber.

Thailand Beach Massage

Thailand Beach Massage

The Thai beach massage is incredibly popular. From the beaches of Phuket to Samui to Pattaya, you will find these places every incorporate of hundred yards along the beach. In the more built up resorts where hotels have beach fronts such as Chaweng and Lamai in Samui, the beach massage signs may be only 20 or 30 yards apart as they vie for trade.

All beach massages are disturbingly similar, they consist of a bamboo protection to keep off the sun, some mattresses to lie in and usually in the middle of 3 and 5 middle-aged ladies all wearing the same colour polo shirts, yellow pink and orange seeming to be the favourites.

Thailand Hotel

I will put my hand up now and confess that I do not see the point in Thai beach massages, the only thing that I can see they have that is best than a street massage shop is that you do not have to move far to get massaged, however this small advantage is outweighed significantly in my concept by:

A) You already have gunky sun tan oil on you

B) You are probably covered in sand

C) You are probably covered in salt

D) The massage is outdoors so you will continue to sweat

E) All the beach is watching you

F) The ladies have been sat exterior in the sun all day!!!!

G) The mattresses contain elements of A, B, C and D

All of the above in my concept are exactly the opposite of what I wish in a massage, I like to be properly showered, not be sweating because I am in an air conditioned environment, have some privacy so that I can snore in peace, have ladies that smell of Tiger Balm rather than sweat and have the use of a freshly laundered towel and a spotlessly clean mattress cover. None of which are available with a Thailand beach massage.

However, as I said this is only my concept and if you are sat on a Thai beach you will see that an awful lot of citizen disagree with me. The only time that I do use the beach massage girls is if they are attached to the hotel that I am staying in and I see them every day on the way to the beach, I may then invite them back for a late afternoon session in my room, especially if I have gotten a little too much sun. By letting g them loose on my Aloe Vera and lying in a cool room the sunburn can be dealt with whilst at the same time maybe having a gentle snooze. I am much more likely though to get showered and make my way across the road to a normal massage shop and take my Aloe Vera with me as there is always the danger that problem F will rear its ugly head if you have the beach massage girl do you in the late afternoon.

Thailand beach massage cost. Amazingly you can expect to pay more for having the massage on the beach, prices tend to be set by the management of the hotel as the beach massage need a base, they cannot just set up tent on the main beach, the hotel of procedure take their cut as well. An median price for traditional massage is 300 to 400 baht per hour on the beach, add other 100 baht if you wanted oil massage. Not my cup of tea thanks!

Thai Girls And Thailand voyage in 5 Easy Steps

Thai Girls And Thailand voyage in 5 Easy Steps

If you've hit an age where meeting intriguing younger (than you) girls or women seems to be a wicked challenge, maybe it's time to think opportunity your mind to new horizons. Yes I'm talking about Thai girls and Thai women here. And doing it from a guy who has lived in Thailand for the best part of four years.

But before we meet the excellent Thai girl, why Thailand? Maybe it's the attention. It's hard not to be taken by citizen who seem to be all the time smiling, welcoming and friendly. And with a great 'not too serious about whatever much' attitude and the Thai Buddhist qualities, well, it's all quite compelling.

Thailand Hotel

Anyway, Thailand is a world in itself, so be prepared to be amazed and have all your normal 'logical' mental supplanted with ongoing illogical and strange behavior. In other words, Thailand is a fully weird place. Just remember that when you trip to a foreign country, after you get there, you come to be the foreigner...

Amongst all its differences, the pleasures are true and fascinating. There's no doubt Thailand is a crazy world. But strangely enough, it seems to hang together well. And the proof is in the pudding... Having thrown myself into this lifestyle, I now feel somewhat 'apprehensive' about having to trip to a Western country and meet Western people. Why would I feel that way?

Maybe because I've been immersed in smiling, gentle Thai citizen who all the time welcomed me and wanted to know about me. Maybe because I've been surrounded by Thai food that is all the time so prominent everywhere you go. Food that... "shows how we delicately care about feelings of people." And then there's the Thai girls...

Let's talk about Thai girls and the Thai world straight through these 5 easy steps:

Step one: Go to http://yourthaigirl.com and read the downloadable ebook, (and while you're there sign up to the Thai Girl, Thai Life newsletter). In this ebook you'll learn all about Thai culture, lifestyle, and of course, Thai girls.

You get savvy on what to do, what not to do, when to do it, and where to go and do it. You'll know what it all means, and the ebook will give you the 'inside picture' to the world of Thailand.

Step two: Book your marker to Thailand as soon as you can. When you arrive, put in order for the slam... the heat... An invisible hammer that hits you with its mighty force... Rushes to greet you with the power of a thousand simmering angels...

And yet, before you know it, you'll be slipping down the long passageways inside the cool air conditioned airport. Get your bags, your bearings, your Thai girl book and put in order for your biggest journey. (Hey, Thailand is not as hot as you think :-)

Step three: Get out and meet and greet people. put in order your name card, your few words of Thai, a nice hotel or resort with a funny name, and your best clothes. In this country, it pays to look good. Thai's like to be clean, fresh, and attractive. No kidding.

Step four: Just be you. Expect lots of questions. The Thai's want to learn English... speak English with you. You'll have a great, precious, mighty time. Be adventurous. Be a tourist. Learn new things. trip on the sky train.

Step five: That's it, all done. Remember though to keep light-hearted. The Thai's like to have fun, not be 'too serious' and will appreciate it if you show respect to the things that are prominent to them. The key word is enjoyment. Have fun.

Actually, there's easily nothing to it. It's so easy (once you're here!) The main thing is to keep your calm, appreciate the charm of Thai girls, seek out capability relationships, and let me know how it all goes, okay.

How To Stay Safe From Crime In Thailand

How To Stay Safe From Crime In Thailand

Is Thailand safe? By many other big cities in the world, so long as you keep your base sense with you, you should not encounter any troubles in Thailand. The two most base crimes you will encounter are theft and pickpockets. This should not be surprising as the majority of the local Thai population live on less than Us five dollars every day.

For the midpoint tourist in Thailand, the most base worry is the rising whole of conmen who dupe naive tourists into parting their cash.

Thailand Hotel

As a preventive part against theft, you should carry your valuables with you at all times. It is also potential to use a locker in the hotel room or your guesthouse to keep your belongings. The safest are that want your own padlock. Nonetheless there are some occasional reports of theft by hotel staff. Always padlock your luggage when leaving it in the hotel or a guesthouse room, as well as when taking it along on a group transport. Having your own padlock is also useful as an extra protection part for your room especially on the doors of beachfront bamboo huts.

There are also some reports of cases of theft resulting from overnight long-distance bus travel. Any way most of the reported incidents happen on cheap underground run bus companies. These buses ordinarily run from Bangkok's Thanon Khao San to places such as Surat Thani and the southern beach resorts. There are government designated stations that buses are supposed to leave from. So do not be tempted. It is best to go direct to such designated bus stations for your travels.

If you're not sure, you should also ask colse to to ascertain such buses.

When you're traveling on any bus or on the train, you should never keep your luggage out of sight if it contains any valuables. For your personal safety, you should be rigorous of accepting any food or drink from any fellow travelers you're not well-known with as it may be drugged.

Paranoiac as it may seems to be, the tourism Authority of Thailand has seen so many cases that it has to publish warnings about such crimes. Your drinks can also be spiked in bars and nightclubs, even so especially at popular beach full moon parties on Ko Pha Ngan. There have been reported cases of sexual assault on Western women. Some men have reported that Thai prostitutes may also spike their drinks so that they can steal from the victim's room.

There are very little cases of violent crime against tourists in Thailand. Any way low crime doesn't mean no crime. Recently, there have been reported cases of some serious attacks on Western women travellers. Every year, 14 million visitors voyage to Thailand. Inspecting this, the statistics of such crimes are extremely low. base sense should prevail for travelers which includes locking up the windows and doors at night. And you should not be traveling alone at night either in a taxi or a Tuk-tuk.

When in Bangkok, never risk using an unlicensed taxi. Stick to using the foremost license and metered taxis.

For women tourists, avoid spending time alone with a Thai monk. There have been reported cases of rapes and murders committed by population wearing the saffron robes. Not all men bearing the saffron robes uphold the high morality of monkhood and Buddhism.

Hat Yai - Growing City in the Southern Thailand

Hat Yai is one of Thailand's southernmost cities, placed in the province of Songkhla. It is only 30 km from the Malaysian border. The city began as primarily a hasten hub between Thailand and Malaysia. It is one of the lesser known traveler spots in Thailand and is inviting to those who wish to 'get away from it all,' but still have the features of a city available.

The city is becoming increasingly favorite among gays. There are at least 3 gay bars now and a gay sauna called Gl Sauna as well. Admission is 250 baht and includes a drink.

Thailand Hotel

The gay bars are within easy walking distance of each other, the most favorite being the G-Men bar.

Hat Yai - Growing City in the Southern Thailand

The city was a small community until the advent of the hasten in 1922 and has slowly, but for real increased in size ever since. The habitancy is now about 160,000. The lawful name of the city is Ma Hat Yai. Ma Hat is the Thai word for a fruit tree relative of the favorite Jackfruit. Yai means large or big.

Thailand Hotel

Getting to the city and the area is no problem. There are buses, airline service, and obviously hasten service. Within Hat Yai there are plenty of mini buses, tuk-tuks, and bicycle taxis.

Accommodations are relatively in costly in Hat Yai as it is not a beach town or resort city. Food in Hat Yai is mostly Thai, but some of the shopping malls have restaurants that highlight 'farang food' and there are a few 'farang food' restaurants. It is best to book a room via a travel agent. You will approximately all the time get a best rate from a travel agent than booking directly straight through a hotel in Hat Yai.

Night life in Hat Yai includes a surprising whole of bars for a small city, any of which include live music. A favorite place to go is Oceana, and entertainment complicated just outside of Hat Yai. There you will find a very nice open air restaurant and bar that covers two floors and is in a beautifully romantic landscaped setting, open until about 2:00am. There is a disco around and it seems to remain open until about 4:00am.

The Lee organery Plaza features fast food restaurants including McDonald's, Kfc, and Sizzler. There is also a modern multiplex cinema at Lee Garden.

There is not very much in the way of sightseeing in the Hat Yai vicinity, but the three most favorite attractions are:

Wat Hat Yai Nai - Features a 35 meter long reclining Buddha, the third largest in the world.

Hat Yai Municipal Park - This park is quite favorite among the Thais and includes an plenty of flowering plants and a very good aviary.

Ton Nga Chang Waterfall - carefully by many to be one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Thailand. It is a 7-tiered waterfall, the most favorite being the third level, known as the "Elephant Tusk" waterfall. Here the falls cut off into two streams, resembling elephant tusks. You can for real hire transportation to and from the park for about 400 baht.

Many farang doing visa runs go to Hat Yai due to its close presence to the Malaysian border. The run takes you to Dannok. From there you plainly cross over the border on foot, take care of your visa renewal, and return, although there are plenty of bicycle taxis to take you, if you wish, 20 baht each way. Mini vans are available to take you back to Hat Yai for about 60 baht, but they do not depart until they are full. The trip takes approximately 90 minutes.

Wat Phra Non of Thailand

Wat Phra Non is a small temple situated at the base of Doi Kong Mu. The name beyond doubt means the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Therefore, it should not come as surprise when you see the reclining Buddha image house inside the temple.

The temple was made-to-order by Rama V in 1877 and determined to be more "lifelike" than most other temples. Initially the temple was suppose to be the final resting place of the king and the construction began in 1875. However, later it was changed to a temple.

Thailand Hotel

The reclining Buddha is housed in a large wiharn. The open front of the wiharn faces the street. Right next to the reclining Buddha image is room that used as a museum. This museum was opened rather recently, in 1990. In the museum, you can find statues, religious books, old ceramics and some items dating back to when Thailand was occupied by the Japanese during the World War Ii.

Wat Phra Non of Thailand

Just next to the wiharn is a small graveyard where four cenotaphs are present. The cenotaphs house the ashes of the first four governors of the city. According to a rumor, the ashes of the first governor of the city are housed in one of the large chedis of Wat Doi Kong Mu but this cannot be endorsed.

Thailand Hotel

Just behind the wiharn are two stairways important to the side of Doi Kong Mu. Just at the beginning of the stairs there are two huge stone Shan lions. For most people the climb up the stairways is very exhausting and that is why mid-way there is a viewing platform which has a standing Buddha on it. This Buddha image looks over the city. For those who do not want to climb up to Doi Kong Mu, there is a road to drive up.

Next to the stairways are any small monuments worth spending time over. There is also a small wooden shrine that has a small altar and right next to the wiharn is a large platform on which is an image of a seated Buddha. This image is in a small quadrilateral chedi.

Pai - favorite Mountain Resort and Farang Enclave in Northern Thailand

If you'd like to disappear off the face of the map and drop out from the real world, there is no better place than Pai, a very pleasant mountain resort and dedicated farang enclave in Thailand's northern province of Mae Hong Son.The mountain air is clean and crisp and free of pollution, and during the dry season, the morning temperature is below 50F and at night, a comfortable 65F. So bring a sweater or light jacket during the dry season, November - May.

Pai is "A real United Nations Village" as in a short whole of time, one will meet habitancy of so many dissimilar nationalities - Israelis, Swedes, Canadians, young Japanese backpackers, Flemish, Finns, Dutch, Germans, Aussies, Kiwis, French, Italians, Brits, Swiss, Spaniards and a token Yankee or two. Although somewhat devoid of Thai ambiance per se, there is something special and magical about this rural mountain resort. The most favorite performance in Pai is getting high, hanging around any whole of small cafes shooting the zephyr with fellow farang travelers. In addition, a lot of artistic types - writers, poets, watercolorists, musicians etc - find Pai a perfect place for their creative juices to flow and have made it their permanent abode.

Thailand Hotel

In an odd sort of way, arriving in Pai is sort of like entering "The Twilight Zone". For those of you who don't know what I'm referring to, Twilight Zone was a favorite science fiction sitcom in the 1960's. Many visitors stay in Pai for months or years, never to go back to their westernized home country or to the trappings of real civilization. I believe that many visitors' stay in Pai comes to an end when their traveler's visa expires. Some of these dropouts make the run over the border to Myanmar and get their visa extended. Like I said, many habitancy disappear in Pai and never return to the life they left behind.

"You're travelling to other dimension, a size not only of sight and sound... But of mind. A journey into a wondrous land, whose boundaries are only that of the imagination... You're entering... The Twilight Zone"

Hospitals in Chiang Mai, Thailand - medical Tourism

Chiang Mai Ram Hospital

This is the prime hidden hospital in Chiang Mai, and with the price range to match: but then again, you get what you pay for, though the Ram is not necessarily where you might want to have your check-up or doctor appointment if you are a backpacker traveling on a diminutive budget. The Ram has whole departments: Obstetrics/Gynecology, neurosurgery, pediatrician, dentistry, and all the specialists you would expect to find at any contemporary hospital. Indeed, Thai doctors tend to come with much great bedside manners and as a rule are friendlier than their western counterparts thanks to the emphasis on hospitality in Thai culture as well as the Ram's direction as part of the service sector. The staff speak fairly fluent English, commonly give prompt, helpful service, and the hospital as a whole is one of the most reputable in the country (overseas patients who come to Thailand for cheaper medical expenses and operations are common). The Chiang Mai Ram is located in the Old City area, near the Central Kad Suan Kaew shopping mall, and boasts a roof that has been built to adapt accident helicopter landing. All reputable hotels in the city often have a compact with the Ram and default to them for ambulances and emergencies.

Rajavej Hospital

Hospitals in Chiang Mai, Thailand - medical Tourism

Located opposite a hotel, the Rajavej Hospital includes highly specialized service clinics, including liver disease clinic, hemorrhoids clinic, digestive system disease, diabetes/thyroid and cholesterol clinic, dermatology, geriatric clinic and a menopause clinic. Their service centers range from cancer to endoscopy, and they have surgeons who specialize in orthopedic surgery, oncology, and plastic surgery. Price range is somewhat less likely to traumatize your wallet, but the Rajavej Hospital's lobby and waiting area is also considerably less glamorous to look at then the Ram's.

Thailand Hotel

McCormick Hospital

The McCormick Hospital is one of the few institutions in Chiang Mai and Thailand in general that are run under the umbrella of the Church of Christ, and as such is a Catholic hospital. Being considerably smaller than the Chiang Mai Ram, it accordingly offers rather fewer facilities and department, but the chamber and nursing fees are also much cheaper, catering to more budget-conscious patients. general health check-ups, cancer check-ups, prenatal and postnatal care, cardiac care unit, and laberious care units are available. The McCormick is located in Wat Ket, on Kaeonawarat Road, close to the Dara Academy.

Lanna Hospital

The Lanna Hospital has been certified with Iso 9000. It offers 180 in-patient beds, and distinguishes itself by hiring staff who not only speak English but also Mandarin and Japanese in addition to, of course, Thai. While like others it offers general care across discrete health categories (cardiac care, back pain, Obstetrics/Gynecology, et cetera), it specializes in handling accident cases. It is located on Chnag Klan Road, in the city center, and is one of the hospitals closest to the Night store area.

All the hospitals listed cleave to Iso standards and are staffed by internationally trained doctors and nurses, many of which graduated from Ivy League schools and top medical universities of England and Switzerland. Incorporate this with the first-rate hospitality, cultural disposition toward friendliness, and the relatively low costs, and Chiang Mai undoubtedly proves one of the most inviting destinations for medical tourism.
