The Forks, in Winnipeg Manitoba, is located at the "fork" between the Assiniboine River and the Red River. The Forks is both a historic site and a group meeting place. Situated in uptown Winnipeg the Forks is home to a diverse collection of activities and markets.
The first floor of the Forks market contains mostly food stores. The second floor has more ethnic shops, a large craft store, as well as a conservatory for ballet. In the Forks second building you can find Finn's Pub, an Old Spaghetti Factory, Johnson final and a big ancient store in the basement level.

In 2005, the Forks announced plans to create a new skate park. This skate park known as "The Plaza" was completed in 2006 and was created using money donated by J.W. Burns family Foundation. There is also the Winnipeg Children's museum which is also located at the Forks. The Children's museum holds many nature and science exhibits which will excite children of all ages. The Red River walkway is also a great way to spend an evening. Peaceful and quiet the river walkway is a great way to relax.Also located at the Forks is the Inn at the Forks, a prestigious hotel.
During winter, the Forks is home to the worlds longest skating rink. In 2008 January, the Guinness Book of World Records designated The Forks as having the longest skating rink in the world. Stretching 8.54 kilometer, the Red River and Assiniboine river (when freezing over), is used as an ice rink. It stretches roughly 1 kilometer longer than the old Guinness World record-holder.
