Chef Norbert Kostner, Executive Chef of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok was recently on the "I Love Thailand" television programme on Channel 5. As consultant of The Royal Project in Thailand, Chef Norbert is respected for being the first individual to introduce international agricultural produce to Thailand and selects which fruit, vegetable, meats or foliage will be adaptable to the country's ecosystem. As a chef he understands thoroughly which items are suitable to bring into the tropical climate. Originally from Italy, Chef Norbert has lived in Thailand for 40 years and has worked at the hotel for 35 years. Well loved amongst Thais and locals alike, he has become an icon throughout these years and is perhaps the most famous foreign chef in Thailand! The interview began with Chef Norbert discussing how he fell in love with Thailand and the culture and people, as well as how he became a consultant for The Royal Project. This particular episode focuses on The Royal Projects in Chiang Mai. An environmental initiative, The Royal Project under the directorship of HSH Prince Bhisatej Rajani, demonstrates the diversity of highland agriculture within the country and to promote the natural resources to the international culinary world.
