Save for a 1/2 mile stretch in uptown Koh Jum, there are no paved roads on this small, relatively obscure tropical island settled not far from Krabi in southern Thailand, only some somewhat rough and uneven dirt roads. Nightlife is nonexistent as far as I can see - there are no bars, trendy cafes or traveler cul-de-sacs (places where tourists hangout) unlike other more beloved beach resorts. In terms of sheer corporal beauty, Koh Pu pales in comparison to the lushly tropical and gigantic islands of Koh Chang or Koh Samui and while there are some fairly decent beaches scattered round the island, there are great beaches to be found elsewhere in Thailand. Did I forget to mention, that there is no electricity on the island except in the middle of the hours of 6:00Pm-12 midnight?
Why should you agenda your vacation in Koh Pu? If you're seeing for peace and quiet, you'll find fullness of it on this small island. That is the big attraction here. Koh Pu is the ideal place to chill out, meditate, detox and to do some serious reading. Scattered nearby the island, there are whole of small resorts and cottage rentals along with the in fact delightful Tingrai Bay Resort. Hint: Bring fullness of books and reading material with you.

There are roughly 3000 inhabitants on Koh Pu; most of them are Moslem and the original manufactures here is cultivation of rubber.
