Just writing a quick post to let everyone know that we arrived safely into Bangkok. 14 hours to Tokyo, a layoff long enough for a quick sushi lunch in Narita airport, and then another 7 hours to Bangkok. We spent the first night at Sukhumvit Soi 11 (www.suk11.com), a really cool guesthouse comprised of a collection of rustic buildings. Clean rooms, private bathroom and A/C. Not too bad for US a night. However, after catching some zzz's, we moved to the Royal Orchid Sheraton...a five star hotel right on the Chao Phyra river. Gotta love the hotel points that Wendy and I rack up during our travels for work. No signs of jet lag yet as we actually did a lot during our first day. Had a great breakfast (the fruit and fruit juices here are amazing), checked out two of the main temples (Wat Arun and Wat Pho), and wandered around Khao San Road (the famous backpacker area). The temples were super busy with all of the thais flocking to them to pray for the New Year. We skipped the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Keaw (The Emerald Buddha) but plan to return tomorrow.
